Procedure & Interpretation

Step-by-Step Procedure

  1. Add 3 drops of sample to the test well.
  2. Wait 10-15 minutes.
  3. Read the results. Do not interpret after 15 minutes.

Result Interpretation

Positive Result
Positive: A visible band in the test region (T) and the control region (C) indicates a positive result.
Negative Result
Negative: A visible band only in the control region (C) indicates a negative result.
Invalid Result
Invalid: If no band appears in the control region (C), the test is invalid and should be repeated with a new device.

Frequently Asked Questions

CK-MB levels typically rise within 3-6 hours after the onset of chest pain, peaking at 12-24 hours.

Besides AMI, CK-MB can be elevated in myocarditis, cardiac trauma, and certain muscular dystrophies.

CK-MB is less specific than Troponin I or T, therefore Troponin is prefered for diagnosis of AMI. However, CK-MB is still used as an aid in diagnosis.
